Gilmer
county,
Lower Cartecay Road to Stegall Mill Road Road section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I-II+(III) 2.1 miles
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Georgia tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The scenic beauty of Gilmer County and the water flowing gracefully down Cartecay River beats
anything. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking,
either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This stretch of Cartecay River is 2.1 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II+(III) section by American Whitewater.
