The wonderful Gilmer County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Briefly about the general area:
For the duration of the days of summer highs here at Cartecay River get into the 80's. Summer nighttime lows plunge down to the 60's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 40's; nighttime lows at Cartecay River throughout the winter frequently plunge into the 20's. Cartecay River is a pretty wet place usually with a large amount of rain; March is when you get the most rain here while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
