The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are many good hotels to choose from, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are some good sections to paddle in this river     system, the Stegall Mill Road to DNR section is one of them. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. This stretch of Cartecay River in Gilmer County is 2 miles long and is a class II(III) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places.
