The scenic beauty of Georgia and the water flowing gracefully down Chattahoochee River make the trip here worthwhile. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Duncan Bridge to Belton Bridge stretch is just one of them. If you hurry you can run this section in a
day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. And
of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The put-in location is a short drive from Cornelia, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This section of Chattahoochee River is 11 miles long and it is classified as a class II(III) section by American Whitewater.
Briefly about the general area: The Shoals is next to Chattahoochee River and is a tremendous location. At Chattahoochee River during the long summer days highs are in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 60's.
The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Chattahoochee River. Chattahoochee River is a wet site that gets a large amount of rain; the wettest month of the year is frequently March, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is October.
