Powers Ferry to West Pallisades/Paces Mill section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I-II+(III) 3.5 miles
Class I-II at the most after a good rain. I've been going here over a year and barely enough to tube. 7-6-2008 Says
The Powers Ferry to West Pallisades/Paces Mill stretch of Chattahoochee River is 3.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II+(III) section. The nature scenery of Georgia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less
manageable. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. The campgrounds here at Chattahoochee River are pretty good. There are
many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The starting point is not too far from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost.
