CLASS III-V(V+) 5 miles
The Bull Pen Bridge to Burrells Ford Bridge stretch of Chattooga River is 5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-V(V+) section. The beautiful scenery of Rabun/Oconee County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. The average Georgia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came.
The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Seneca, as you can see on the road map further down. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains
is a great plus for this river. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip.
