If you're coming from Seneca it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. The
nature scenery of Rabun GA / Oconee SC County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is
a very popular destination. The campgrounds here at Chattooga River are pretty good. The average Georgia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great plus for this river. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came.
