This stretch of Chattooga River is 13 miles long and is a class II-III+(IV) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great. The scenic beauty     of Rabun GA / Oconee SC County and the water flowing gracefully down Chattooga River beats anything. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Earls Ford to Route 76 Bridge stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. Briefly about the general area: Good hiking is available along the Chattooga Trail. A good deal of rainfall   falls at Chattooga River; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain while July is regularly the driest month. High temperatures at Chattooga River all through the summer months are in the 80's while night lows are frequently in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Chattooga River.
