The starting location is a short drive from Toccoa, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good places. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system     that can be paddled as well. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Georgia is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Briefly about the general area: Chattooga River gets much water; during the month of March you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year   is October. Near Chattooga River you find Woodall Shoals which is a great spot to explore. At Chattooga River during the summertime months highs are in the 80's with overnight lows in the 60's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 50's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Chattooga River descend into the 20's.
