Turners Corner to Grindle Bridge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-III+ 11.4 miles
The put-in is not too far from Gainesville, as you can see on the road map further down. The nature scenery of Georgia and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The Turners Corner to Grindle Bridge section of Chestatee River is 11.4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III+ section. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers
in this state are not easy. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to
come. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove.
