This section of Chestatee River in Georgia is 2.1 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. If you're coming from Gainesville it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up
sleeping in your car. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. There's camping available near Chestatee River. The Grindle Falls Road to Copper Mine section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system.
Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. The nature scenery of Georgia and the water flowing gracefully down Chestatee River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. When you're paddling down a Blue Ridge Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This is a somewhat short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over.
