Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Chattanooga, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The campgrounds here at Cole City Creek are pretty good. There are no other sections to paddle along Cole City Creek than the Casey Road to Tennessee River section. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but
do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch of Cole City Creek in Georgia is 7.2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III+(IV) section. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while
are sure to keep you coming back for more. The wonderful Georgia scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon.
Briefly about the general area: This river has so much to offer. If you're here, you might as well stop by Squirrel Tail Gulf, and the Sand Mountain casts its shadow over Cole City Creek. For the duration of the summer at Cole City Creek temperatures are regularly in the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the
60's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 40's, and night lows in the 20's for Cole City Creek. You are close to Sulphur Springs Gulf since you're here at Cole City Creek, and Seward Point is an attention-grabbing site to stop by while at Cole City Creek. Cole City Creek is a wet place that gets a good deal of precipitation; March is when you get the most rain here; the driest month is June.
