The nature scenery of Murray County and the water flowing gracefully down Conasauga River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There's camping available near Conasauga River. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Georgia is often tougher than elsewhere, so keep in mind that     many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The Chicken Coop Gap to East Cowpen Road section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Cleveland, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: A good place in the neighborhood of Conasauga River is Chicken Coop Gap, and on a wonderful day you can take a hike along the Cloer Trail. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's while Conasauga River nighttime low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 20's. If the weather is great here at Conasauga River, you can go for a hike along the Gryder Camp Trail.
