Georgia whitewater - Conasauga River, Murray County
Murray
county,
Hickory Creek Trailhead to East Cowpen Road section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III-IV(V) 10 miles
The wonderful Georgia scenery and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The average Georgia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. If you're coming from Cleveland it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. This
is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. The nearby hotels are a bit
away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come.
