The natural beauty of Georgia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. This is the only paddling section along Cooper Creek. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section of Cooper Creek in Georgia is 5.2 miles long and has been rated as
a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling
rivers. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great plus for this river. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
Briefly about the general area: There are pleasant sites to explore along the Duncan Ridge Trail, and Cooper Creek is in the neighborhood of Cavender Gap which is undeniably worth checking out. You truly have to love the Blue Ridge Mountains. Don't leave Cooper Creek without first going for
a hike along the Benton Mackaye Trail; a visit to Cooper Creek wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Sea Creek Falls. Cooper Creek gets a great deal of water; March is the wettest month with most rain while October is commonly the driest month. Summertime highs at Cooper
Creek regularly tend to be in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Cooper Creek. This river has so much to offer.
