county,
USFS Route 33 to Mulky Creek Camp section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-III 5.2 miles
The scenic beauty of Georgia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. You might have to settle for a hotel
a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The USFS Route 33 to Mulky Creek Camp stretch is the only paddling stretch along Cooper Creek. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great.
This stretch of Cooper Creek is 5.2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here.
Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Cooper Creek a wet spot; during the month of March you get the most rain around here, and October meanwhile is the driest month. The surroundings of this
river have so much to offer. Cavender Gap is a nice spot to spend some time at; on a good day you can take a hike along the Benton Mackaye Trail. So much fun stuff to do here in the Blue Ridge Mountains, too good to be true. Don't leave Cooper Creek without first paying a
visit to Sea Creek Falls; if the weather is magnificent, you can go for a hike along the Duncan Ridge Trail. At Cooper Creek during the summer highs are in the 80's, and the overnight is a little cooler of course, usually in the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for Cooper Creek.
