This section of Coosawattee River is 11 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Calhoun, there's
a road map further down the page with more info on that. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Georgia are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for
more. There are no other sections to paddle along Coosawattee River than the GA Route 5 to Carter's Lake section. The nature scenery of Georgia and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. The campgrounds here at Coosawattee River are pretty good. Not too
many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Coosawattee River through the months of summer are in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures
are in the 60's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 40's; during the dark hours in the winter at Coosawattee River temperatures fall to the 20's. The high level of precipitation makes Coosawattee River a relatively wet place; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
