This section of Daniel Creek is 4.6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V+ section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Summerville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. There are many good hotels to choose from, but if you
don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The nature scenery of Dade County and the beautiful way the water current moves
down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. There are no other stretches to paddle along Daniel Creek than the to Bear Creek stretch.
Briefly about the general area: A short journey to Whiteoak Spring is always worthwhile; Little Mans Gulch is in close proximity, and is a great place. For the duration of the summer highs here at Daniel Creek get into the 80's. Summer overnight lows
dip down to the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Daniel Creek are in the 20's. Daniel Creek is a relatively wet place commonly with lots of rain; March is the month that gets the most rain, and October is when it's the driest.
