Lumpkin
county,
Waters Creek Campground to Turners Corner section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS IV 2 miles
This section of Dicks Creek is 2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV section. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Gainesville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nature scenery of Lumpkin County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is a short paddling stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There aren’t any hotels
right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. Whitewater rafting
and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The Waters Creek Campground to Turners Corner stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is wonderful.
