county,
Waters Creek Campground to Turners Corner section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS IV 2 miles
If you're coming from Gainesville it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The Waters Creek Campground to Turners Corner stretch of Dicks Creek in Lumpkin County is 2 miles long and is a class IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Great exercise and spending some
quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. The natural beauty of Georgia and the water flowing gracefully down Dicks Creek beats anything. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. For all you camping people
there are campgrounds nearby. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Waters Creek Campground to Turners Corner section is one of them. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that.
