Georgia whitewater - Dicks Creek, Blue Ridge Mountains, Lumpkin County
Lumpkin
county,
WMA Gate to Waters Creek Campground section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS V 0.75 miles
Well if this is where the big waterfall is. No Iw ould not raft it. Besides if you went way too far down you will run into private proprrty and You will be in huge trouble! For below the falls there are deep pools w/ trout and signs to keep out. What a pretty picture to take. GO with the right person which in my case took the wrong person, Who likes to stop Fish for awhile, see a fall, go on to next stop.Rest, enjoy and move to Desoto or Helen etc. I plan for now on to go to this area of GA 2 to 3 times a year to see the views. Pooh on some of your
state parks for camping. Says Kellie of Acworth
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The scenic beauty of Lumpkin County
and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is wonderful. This is an extremely short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the WMA Gate to Waters Creek Campground
section is one of them. The starting location is a short drive from Gainesville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations
in advance you're all set. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. This stretch of Dicks Creek in Georgia is 0.75 miles long and has been rated as a class V section by American Whitewater.
