The starting location is a reasonable drive from Cornelia, as you can see on the road map further down. The nature scenery of White County and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Dodd Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Ravencliff Trail to GA 348 stretch is the only one. This stretch of Dodd
Creek in White County is 3 miles long and is a class IV-V(V+) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is a somewhat short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. No need to look hard for hotels, but do book a room before you come because
it is a very popular destination. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places.
Briefly about the general area: Dodd Creek is a pretty wet place ordinarily with a good deal of rain; March is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is October. While staying at Dodd Creek you could always
look at Red Hill Gap; hiking along the Raven Cliff Falls Trail is perfect fun. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's always delightful to check out Raven Cliff Falls; you can have a brilliant hiking adventure along the Appalachian National
Scenic Trail. During the warm days of summer at Dodd Creek temperatures are usually in the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 60's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and night lows at Dodd Creek through the winter commonly dip into the 20's. This river is so perfect. Don't leave Dodd Creek without first paying a visit to Dukes Creek Falls.
