CLASS III+     7 miles
The starting point is not too far from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The wonderful Georgia scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Dog River have people coming here. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. This stretch of Dog River is 7 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III+
section. There are no other stretches to paddle along Dog River than the GA Route 5 to Dog River Reservoir stretch. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will
have you coming back for more. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The campgrounds here at Dog River are pretty good.
