The scenic beauty of Lumpkin County and the cool fresh water beats anything. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Georgia tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue     Ridge Mountains is a great experience. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Hightower Road to US 19 section is one of them.
