The nature scenery of Georgia and the playfulness of the water beats anything. This section of Etowah River in Georgia is 13.3 miles long and is a class II(IV) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're coming from Gainesville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting
and kayaking in Georgia is often tougher than elsewhere, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains
is a great plus for this river. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the US 19 to Highway 136 section is one of them.

the other hand is the driest. At Etowah River all through the summer months highs are in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Etowah River.
