GA 52 to Glades section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-III(V+) 2.1 miles
Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Georgia is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The put-in location is a short drive from Gainesville, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful Georgia scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. This is a bit of a short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the
river for a while have a lot of people coming here. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay
the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The campgrounds here at Flat Creek are pretty good. There are no other sections to paddle along Flat Creek than the GA 52 to Glades section.
Briefly about the general area: Flat Creek sees pretty high levels of precipitation; the wettest month of the year is frequently March, that's the one that rains the most, and October is the month with the least moisture. Glade Shoals is a pleasant place to go to close by. High temperatures at Flat Creek during the
summer months are in the 80's. Summer night lows sink down to the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's with temperatures at Flat Creek dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights.
