The scenic beauty of Talbot/Upson County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The starting point is not too far from Thomaston, as you can see on the road map further down. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There are no other sections to paddle along Flint River than the Sprewell Bluff State Park to Po Biddy Road section. Getting your paddling
muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The Sprewell Bluff State Park to Po Biddy Road stretch of Flint River in Talbot/Upson County is 9.1 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-III section of whitewater.
You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Georgia are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are

Briefly about the general area: Pleasant Valley is a glorious place to visit in close proximity to Flint River. Summer at Flint River arrives with high temperatures in the 90's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's.
Throughout the winter highs are commonly in the 50's while Flint River overnight low temperatures all through the wintertime are in the 30's. Flint River is a pretty wet place usually with lots of rain; the month with most of the rain is March, and the driest of the months is October.
