CLASS I-III 9.1 miles
Don't forget yellow jacket is less than 1 mile below the 36 bridge, GOOD luck! Says Ray
This section of Flint River in Georgia is 9.1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section. The beautiful scenery of Georgia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Georgia is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great
campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. You might
be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Thomaston, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that.
