Highway 157 to Holder Loop section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS V+ 3.65 miles
The wonderful Dade County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. This stretch of Gulf Creek is 3.65 miles long and it is classified as a class V+ section by American Whitewater. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks. The Highway 157 to Holder Loop section is the only paddling section along Gulf Creek. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Summerville, as you can see on the road map further down. You might be into whitewater rafting or
kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with
mother nature will have you coming back for more. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy.
