Murray
county,
Cohutta Wilderness section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS IV(V) 3.21 miles
The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The Cohutta Wilderness section of Holly Creek is 3.21 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV(V) section. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large
number of paddling places. Holly Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Cohutta Wilderness section is the only one. The beautiful scenery of Murray County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This is a pretty short section
so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There's camping available near Holly Creek. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Dalton, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here.
