Georgia whitewater - Hudson River, Banks County Banks county, Wilson Shoals WMA section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-III+     2 miles   This section of Hudson River in Banks County is 2 miles long and has been rated as a class I-III+ section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Banks County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. The starting point is not too far from Cornelia, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are     not safe for beginners. There are no other sections to paddle along Hudson River than the Wilson Shoals WMA section. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. This section is quite short so better bring some good walking shoes. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. Briefly about the general area: The high level of precipitation makes Hudson River a pretty wet spot; through March this area sees the most rain, and October meanwhile is the driest month. All through the warm months   here at Hudson River, high temperatures usually get into the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Hudson River.
