The starting point is not too far from Cleveland, as you can see on the road map further down. The Jones Mill/Bethlehem Church to Conasauga Confluence stretch of Jack's River in Georgia is 17.2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-V section. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camp stove.
Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You can pitch a
tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The nature scenery of Georgia and the water flowing gracefully down Jack's River attract people from near and far. Whitewater paddling here in the Great Smoky Mountains is a great experience. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The Jones Mill/Bethlehem Church to Conasauga Confluence section is the only paddling section along Jack's River.
Briefly about the general area: This river is so good. Nearby Crooked Dogwood Gap
is a splendid location to go if you're at Jack's River. And that's not all there is to do here in the Great Smoky Mountains. No need to travel far to have a look at attention-grabbing stuff like Horseshoe Bend, and going for a hike on the Rice Camp Trail is always a good adventure.
What would a place like Jack's River be without exciting close by characteristics like Beech Bottom; nearby you find the Hickory Ridge Trail which is a delightful hiking trail. All the water falling down from the sky makes Jack's River a wet place; during March this area sees the
most rain, and the driest month is October. Throughout the warm months here at Jack's River, high temperatures frequently reach the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 40's; nighttime lows in the 20's for Jack's River.
