Georgia whitewater - Mill Creek, Murray County Murray county, Along Mill Creek Road section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III-V+     3 miles   This stretch of Mill Creek is 3 miles long and it is classified as a class III-V+ section by American Whitewater. The wonderful Murray County scenery and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Dalton, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This is the only paddling section along Mill Creek. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks. There's camping available near Mill Creek. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're     willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike along the Grassy Mountain Tower Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and a brilliant site nearby is Hickey Gap. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Mill Creek, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's while Mill Creek nighttime low temperatures all through the winter are in the 20's. Much precipitation   falls at Mill Creek; the wettest month of the year is generally March, that's the one that rains the most; October meanwhile is the driest month.
