This section of Mountaintown Creek in Georgia is 8.8 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. Great exercise and just being out on the river
for a while are great reasons to come. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Georgia are harder than the national norm, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The campgrounds here at Mountaintown Creek are pretty good. This is one of a
small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The nature scenery of Gilmer County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers.
