The nature scenery of Gilmer County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number     of paddling places. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This section of Mountaintown Creek is 8.8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. Briefly about the general area: A large amount of precipitation falls at Mountaintown Creek; the month with most of the rain is March, and October is the month with the least moisture. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Mountaintown   Creek, and the overnight is a bit chillier of course, typically in the 60's.
