This section of Mountaintown Creek in Georgia is 8.8 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. Great exercise and just being out on the river     for a while are great reasons to come. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Georgia are harder than the national norm, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The campgrounds here at Mountaintown Creek are pretty good. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The nature scenery of Gilmer County and the playfulness of the water beats anything.
