This stretch of Mud Creek is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Georgia is often tougher than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. If you're coming from Cornelia it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The natural beauty of Habersham/Hall County and the water flowing gracefully down Mud Creek are reasons enough to come here and paddle.
The campgrounds here at Mud Creek are pretty good. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. This is the only paddling section
along Mud Creek. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more.
Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Mud Creek through the months of summer are in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 40's, and night lows in the 20's for Mud Creek. Since
