The natural beauty of Banks County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Georgia you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This stretch of Nancy Town River is 2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-V(V+) section. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. If you'll
be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The
starting point is not too far from Cornelia, as you can see on the road map further down. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The Lake Russell to GA 105 section is the only paddling section along Nancy Town River.
Briefly about the general area: Nancy Town River typically gets a good deal of precipitation; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is
October. If you fancy a little side tour, try Wofford Shoals, and people from Cornelia love to come here. Summertime at Nancy Town River comes with high temperatures in the 80's while night lows are typically in the 60's. All through the wintertime highs are regularly in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Nancy Town River.
