The Highway 74 to Flint River stretch of Potato Creek in Upson County is 9 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that quite a few
of the sections here are not easy. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. The wonderful Upson County scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. Potato Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections,
the Highway 74 to Flint River section is the only one. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other places.
Briefly about the general area: Potato Creek generally gets a good deal of rain; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is October. Summertime highs at Potato Creek regularly tend to be in the 90's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Through the winter highs are in the 50's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Potato Creek.
