The Elder Mill Road park and huck stretch of Rose Creek in Oconee County is 0.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The Elder Mill Road park and huck stretch is the only paddling stretch along Rose     Creek. The campgrounds here at Rose Creek are pretty good. The put-in location is a short drive from Athens-Clarke County, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. This is an extremely short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
