The put-in location is a short drive from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. This is a somewhat short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There are plenty of hotels here if you     want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch of Rottenwood Creek is 2.25 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are no other stretches to paddle along Rottenwood Creek than the Windy Hill Road to Chattahoochee River stretch. Briefly about the general area: Thornton Shoals is near Rottenwood Creek and is a glorious place. Rottenwood Creek sees pretty high levels of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is March while October is the month   with the least amount of precipitation. For the duration of the summertime here at Rottenwood Creek, high temperatures mostly get into the 80's. All through the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are ordinarily in the 40's while Rottenwood Creek overnight low temperatures during the winter are in the 20's.
