The starting point is not too far from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The natural beauty of Cobb County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The Windy Hill Road to Chattahoochee River stretch of Rottenwood Creek is 2.25 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. If you've been out of
state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This stretch is short so no need to bring snacks. The campgrounds here at Rottenwood Creek are pretty good. There
are no other sections to paddle along Rottenwood Creek than the Windy Hill Road to Chattahoochee River section. There are some good hotels near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
