The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Seneca, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The beautiful scenery of Georgia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. Shoal Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the GA 77 to Lake Hartwell section is the only one. The |

campgrounds here at Shoal Creek are pretty good. There are many good hotels to choose from, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch of Shoal Creek in Hart County is 0.2 miles long and has been rated as a class II+ section by American Whitewater. This
| is an extremely short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots.
Briefly about the general area:
Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Shoal Creek. Summer night lows descend down to the 60's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 50's with temperatures at Shoal Creek dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights.
Shoal Creek gets a good deal of water; the wettest month of the year is generally March, that's the one that rains the most, and October meanwhile is the driest month. | |
