The starting point is not too far from LaGrange, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Banning Mill Road to Johns Mill section of Snake River in Carroll County is 3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III+ section. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might     find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. This section is quite short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. This is the only paddling section along Snake River. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Snake River a wet place; throughout March this area sees the most rain, and October on the other hand is the driest. At Snake River during the months of summer highs are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 60's.
