Georgia whitewater - Sope Creek, Cobb County Cobb county, Lower Roswell Road to Chattahoochee River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III-IV(V)     2.5 miles   The Lower Roswell Road to Chattahoochee River section of Sope Creek is 2.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV(V) section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Georgia tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This is a somewhat short section so no need to bring snacks. The wonderful Georgia scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Sope Creek beats anything. Getting some good exercise and     spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There are some good hotels near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The put-in location is a short drive from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, as you can see on the road map further down. Sope Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Lower Roswell Road to Chattahoochee River section is the only one. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. Briefly about the general area: Sope Creek sees pretty high levels of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is March, and the driest month is October. All through the days of summer, highs regularly are in the 80's at Sope   Creek. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 40's; after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Sope Creek descend into the 20's. If you're here, you might as well stop by Chochran Shoals.
