Lower Roswell Road to Chattahoochee River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III-IV(V) 2.5 miles
All dried up. Not much more than bathwater running through...no exaggeration. 7-6-2008 Says Ronald S.
Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Georgia is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The nature scenery of Georgia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. If you're coming from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. You might be into whitewater rafting
or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good places. Sope Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Lower Roswell Road to Chattahoochee River stretch is the only one. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to
walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. There's camping available near Sope Creek. Lodging is available near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The Lower Roswell Road to Chattahoochee River stretch of Sope Creek in Georgia is 2.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV(V) section of whitewater.
