I was just surfing sites browsing facts about the south river and came across this site regarding canoeing the river and noticed you have a put in get out marker. So is it illegal to put in wherever you want along the river if you have somewhere avail? The wonderful Newton/Henry County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. If you're a camper you can camp
at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. There are no other stretches to paddle along South River than the GA 81 to Snapping Shoals Creek
stretch. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. This is an extremely short section so no need to bring snacks. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
