If you're coming from Cornelia it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The wonderful Georgia scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Highway 23 to Rickman Airfield Road stretch of Stekoa Creek in Rabun County is 1 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. The average Georgia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those
in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. This is a very short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting a good workout
and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. There are some good hotels near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. When you're paddling down a Blue Ridge Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Highway 23 to Rickman Airfield Road section is one of them.
