The scenic beauty of Pickens/Gilmer/Gordon/Murray County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Georgia is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. Great exercise and a chance to spend     some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
