Georgia whitewater - Tallulah River, Blue Ridge Mountains, Towns/Rabun County
Towns/Rabun
county,
GA/North Carolina State Line to Tate Branch Campground section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I-II(III) 5.5 miles
The wonderful Towns/Rabun County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. If you're coming from Cornelia it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you
coming back for more. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make
reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch of Tallulah River is 5.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II(III) section of whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.
