CLASS I-II(III) 5.5 miles
If you're coming from Cornelia it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The scenic beauty of Towns/Rabun County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that many runs in this state are not easy. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. Great exercise and a chance
to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whether
you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. This stretch of Tallulah River is 5.5 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II(III) section by American Whitewater. The GA/North Carolina State Line to Tate Branch Campground stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system.
