Tate Branch Campground to Coleman River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS V 3 miles
This stretch of Tallulah River is 3 miles long and has been rated as a class V section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Georgia is often tougher than elsewhere, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The starting location is a short drive from Cornelia, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Tate Branch Campground to Coleman River stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great
campgrounds nearby. The scenic beauty of Georgia and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby
but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more.
