The Tate Branch Campground to Coleman River section of Tallulah River in Georgia is 3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Cornelia, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This section is quite short so you'd better be prepared to
walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The beautiful scenery of Rabun County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Tate Branch Campground to Coleman River section
is just one of them. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great plus for this river.

about the general area: Summertime highs at Tallulah River commonly tend to be in the 80's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 40's, and overnight lows at Tallulah River all through the winter typically drop into the 20's.
The high level of precipitation makes Tallulah River a pretty wet place; most of the rain falls through March, and October is the month with the least moisture.
