The beautiful scenery of Georgia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Georgia is often tougher than elsewhere, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This section of Tallulah River in Rabun County is 2.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V section of whitewater. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. Since you're on
this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The put-in is not too far from Toccoa, as you can see on the road map further down. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds
nearby. This stretch is short so no need to bring snacks. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
Briefly about the general area: A lot of precipitation falls at Tallulah River; March is the wettest month with most rain; the driest of the months is October. While staying at Tallulah River you could always explore Tallulah Gorge, and a trip to Cascade Falls will fill your spirit with tremendous feelings.
Throughout the summertime months at Tallulah River temperatures are generally in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 50's while the cold winter nights at Tallulah River are in the 20's.
