If you're coming from Toccoa it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Georgia are often more challenging than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The Tallulah Gorge to Lake Tugaloo stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you
don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a somewhat short section so no need to bring snacks. The campgrounds here at Tallulah River are pretty good. The wonderful Georgia scenery and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here
to paddle. This section of Tallulah River in Rabun County is 2.5 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came.
