The put-in location is a short drive from Gainesville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This section of Tesnatee Creek is 3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-III section of whitewater. This is a short paddling stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The nature scenery of White/Lumpkin County and the cool fresh water beats anything. You
can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. Not too many hotels nearby,
you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is the only paddling stretch along Tesnatee Creek. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Georgia you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy.
Briefly about the general area: Through the summertime months at Tesnatee Creek highs are ordinarily in the 80's while night lows are ordinarily in the 60's. During the winter highs are generally in the 40's
with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Tesnatee Creek. Tesnatee Creek is a wet location that gets a large amount of rainfall; through the month of March you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is October.
