Lakemont to Tallulah River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III 1 miles
The put-in is not too far from Cornelia, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Lakemont to Tallulah River stretch of Tiger Creek is 1 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III section. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. This
is an extremely short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is wonderful. No shortage of good hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is the only paddling
stretch along Tiger Creek. The nature scenery of Georgia and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
Briefly about the general area: You have to have a look at Persimmon Point when you're here at Tiger Creek. The high level of rain makes Tiger Creek a pretty wet site; the month with most of the rain is March, and July meanwhile is the driest
month. Through the warmest time of the year at Tiger Creek highs are frequently in the 80's while night lows are commonly in the 50's. For the duration of the winter the highs are frequently in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Tiger Creek drop into the 20's.
