Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The Lakemont to Tallulah River stretch of Tiger Creek in Georgia is 1 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III section. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. This
is an extremely short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. There's camping available near Tiger Creek. The put-in is not too far from Cornelia, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Tiger Creek
doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Lakemont to Tallulah River stretch is the only one. Lodging is available near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The wonderful Georgia scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is wonderful.
Briefly about the general area: Tiger Creek typically gets a great deal of precipitation; during March this area sees the most rain, and July is when it's the driest. Not far from Tiger
Creek you stumble on Persimmon Point. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Tiger Creek with night lows in the 50's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 40's with temperatures at Tiger Creek dipping down into the 20's throughout winter nights.
