You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. The scenic beauty of Fannin County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. There's camping available near Toccoa River. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations     you might end up sleeping in your car. When you're paddling down a Blue Ridge Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your camping stuff too. Toccoa River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Deep Hole Recreation Area to Sandy Bottoms section is the only one. The Deep Hole Recreation Area to Sandy Bottoms stretch of Toccoa River is 13.5 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II(III) section by American Whitewater. At Toccoa River throughout the summertime months highs are in the 80's, and the overnight is rather cooler of course, mostly in the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Toccoa River.
