The US 19 North of Dahlonega to US 19 section of Yahoola Creek is 6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-IV section. The put-in is not too far from Gainesville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The nature scenery of Georgia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so
don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great plus for this river. Lodging is available near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch is mid length, it's good length
for a morning trip. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well.
Briefly about the general area: Throughout the long summer days here at Yahoola Creek, high temperatures regularly get into the 80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's usually in the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's,
and night lows in the 20's for Yahoola Creek. Yahoola Creek is a wet place that gets a lot of rain; during March this area sees the most rain; October is when it's the driest.
