CLASS I-II(III) 6 miles
This section of Yahoola Creek in Georgia is 6 miles long and is a class I-II(III) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're coming from Gainesville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The wonderful Lumpkin County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others
too. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The campgrounds here at Yahoola Creek are pretty good. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains
is great. There are some good hotels near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere.
