The US 19 to Chestatee River section of Yahoola Creek in Lumpkin County is 6 miles long and is a class I-II(III) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Georgia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Georgia is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Getting a good workout and a chance
to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The US 19 to Chestatee River section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of
rivers for that. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great plus for this river. Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Yahoola Creek commonly tend to be in the 80's with overnight lows in the 60's. High temperatures
during the winter are normally in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Yahoola Creek temperatures sink to the 20's. Yahoola Creek gets a great deal of water; through March this area sees the most rain; the driest of the months is October.
