The Arnold Road to Annistown Bridge section of Yellow River is 10 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The put-in is not too far from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. No shortage of good hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. There
are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. The average Georgia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other
states, so don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The beautiful scenery of Georgia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle.
Briefly about the general area: For the period of the warmest time of the year highs here at Yellow River reach the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 40's; overnight lows during the wintertime for Yellow River tend to be in the 20's.
Yellow River is close to Britt Shoals which is positively worth going to; you need to visit McDaniels Bluff since you're here. Yellow River is a pretty wet place ordinarily with a large amount of rainfall; March is when you get the most rain here, and October is the month with the least moisture.
