The beautiful scenery of Gwinnett County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This section of Yellow River in Georgia is 10 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. If you're coming from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging
is available very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Arnold Road to Annistown Bridge section is one of them. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Georgia is often tougher than elsewhere,
so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. The campgrounds here at Yellow River are pretty good.

Britt Shoals is a pleasant site to visit near Yellow River, and you should absolutely visit McDaniels Bluff while you're here.
