CLASS II-III 10 miles
Looking to find a kayak group around Snellville Georgia for the spring. Recently moved from Savannah and I am having kayak withdrawals. Says Dawn O'Connor
This section of Yellow River in Gwinnett County is 10 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Gwinnett County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. The starting location is a short drive from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, as you can see on the road map further down. Some people prefer whitewater
rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. If
you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Georgia are often more challenging than in other states, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Arnold Road to Annistown Bridge section is one of them.
