If you're coming from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but     do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. The scenic beauty of Georgia and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Georgia you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. Briefly about the general area: At Yellow River through the days of summer highs are in the 80's; the nighttime is quite chillier of course, usually in the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are commonly in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Yellow River. All the water falling down from the   sky makes Yellow River a wet place; the month with most of the rain is March while October is typically the driest month.
