The average Georgia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. This section of Yellow River in Gwinnett/Dekalb County is 4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-III section. There are many good hotels to choose from, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. rivers for that. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The nature scenery of Gwinnett/Dekalb County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make
the trip here worthwhile. The Annistown Bridge to Highway 124 section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The put-in location is a short drive from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip.
Briefly about the general area: At Yellow River throughout the months of summer highs are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs
in the 40's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Yellow River plunge into the 20's. Horseshoe Bend is an interesting place to pop by while at Yellow River. A good deal of rain falls at Yellow River; during March this area sees the most rain; October is when it's the driest.
